Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and ex-chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. Burrell hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, with her trademark spiky blond tresses and her edgy personality on Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Cook series, shares straightforward and simple techniques for home cooks. Chef Burrell studied and worked at the top New York restaurants. He also battled Iron Chef America and the culinary landscape of Italy. As a child in Upstate New York Chef Burrell was attracted by the food. After earning an English and Communication degree from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her passion for the restaurant business by enrolling in The Culinary Institute of America. The Culinary Institute of America was a wonderful experience for me. It was hard to study how to do, or even work hard enough. After graduating at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners Chef Burrell took a full year in Italy studying and working at La Taverna del Lupo restaurant in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 one Michelin rating in Tuscany. Burrell gained a greater appreciation of Italian culture and cuisine during her stay in Italy that has informed her style of cooking. Burrell was the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board members, which strives to increase the quality of life for children who face obstacles. Burrell also serves as a Juvenile Disease Research Foundation celebrity ambassador and advocates awareness of children's diabetes. Burrell speaks on her culinary love and imparts her knowledge of the culinary world when she travels throughout the US in various roles such as speaker and mentor. Anne declared that she felt fortunate in that she could share her true passion with other people.
